Vinyasa yoga is a dynamic style of yoga that links breath with movement through continuous, flowing postures. It features varied sequences, an athletic pace, and a focus on smooth transitions between poses. Core Characteristics: Breath synchronisation: Inhales guide upward or expanding movements, while exhales guide downward or contracting movements. Creative variety: Design of unique, changing sequences for every class with or without a specific repeating mini-flow. Main Benefits: Cardiovascular workout: The continuous movement builds internal heat and elevates the heart rate. Strength and flexibility: Flowing through asanas tones muscles while improving joint mobility. Mindful focus: Rhythmic breathing acts as a moving meditation to calm the mind. (Some) Experience required.

Yin

Mon 7 Sep 2026

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Aka the yoga of surrender, based on the ancient wisdom traditions of yoga, acupuncture and Taoism. A practice that brings you back to yourself. It slows you down and calms the nervous system while it is deeply stimulating for your body and mind. In Yin Yoga we are there to be with what is. It is ‘not to go anywhere’. We address the deeper spiritual dimensions of yoga, with time and space for breathing exercises, mindfulness and meditation, supporting a balanced approach to physical and mental health. The practice consists of long held ground postures (usually 3-5 minutes), to stimulate and balance the flow of chi (energy) in the connective tissues of the body. We come into a posture slowly and put the body under temporary distress. We find an appropriate edge, where the body can be for a while. We do less physically and stay longer. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), winter is the season of the Water element, representing deep rest, introspection, and the conservation of your foundational energy (Jing). A winter Yin Yoga focus targets the Kidney and Urinary Bladder meridians to replenish vitality, reduce winter fatigue, and build emotional resilience.

Gentle Flow

Sun 13 Sep 2026

5:15 PM - 6:15 PM

During this ALL levels class you can expect breath-work, simple and easeful movements, relaxation and meditation. "Hi & Hello from your teacher Denise, Engadine local and passionate yoga devotee. However, this wasn't always the case as over the past 15 years I had inconsistently dabbled with yoga, swooping in and out of regular classes and practice. In 2024, looking at first to increase my flexibility and carve out some time for myself, I returned again to my faithful friend yoga and classes at the Engadine Yoga Centre with Michelle and Sabina. Once I started to commit to regular practice at the studio, I felt a shift in my appreciation of yoga and realised it was about so much more than postures! The breathing techniques that help calm the nervous system! The strength achieved through asanas that can be applied to everyday life! Meditation that ensures that you can access rest and relaxation! I see yoga now as a way of being and living in the world. In 2025, I undertook a 200 hour yoga teacher training course and have been lucky enough to find a renewed passion for the magic, wisdom, learning and healing that this ancient practice of yoga can bring. I now have the opportunity to invite you to find balance between the mind, body and spirit through yoga for yourself. In 2026, I chose to take a break from my professional secondary school teaching career and now am enjoying myself reading, swimming, walking and reconnecting with my long lost embroidery skills. Join me in this gentle community class, hopefully either reconnecting to yoga or embracing a new adventure."
